Jannik Sinner qualified for the 1/8 stage of the first Slam tournament of the calendar year 2024: “Australian Open”.
The Italian tennis player had a very easy victory over the Argentinian Sebastian Baez, whom he beat with the numbers 3-0 (6-0, 6-1, 6-3).
The match didn’t have much of a story, with Sinner dictating the Melbourne pitches. The challenge between the two tennis players did not even last two hours, with Jannik in excellent form. With this victory, the 22-year-old will face the Russian Karen Khachanov, who triumphed easily over Tomas Machac, the tennis player from the Czech Republic.
In the other matches of the day, Novak Djokovic easily defeated Argentine opponent Martin Etcheverry. The world number 1 beat his rival 3-0 (6-3, 6-3, 7-6) in a match that lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes. Djokovic remains the tennis player to beat in this competition.
On the other hand, 24-year-old Etcheverry has to leave the distant continent despite a good tournament.
The Australian Open event entered its 13th day, with the best tennis players advancing. The grand final of this Slam will take place on January 28 in Melbourne.
