Jannik Sinner writes another page in the history of Italian tennis: the world number 1 won the US Open (the first Italian male tennis player to do so), defeating the American Taylor Fritz in the final in 3 sets (6-3, 6-4 and 7-5).

This is the second career Grand Slam trophy for Sinner, after success at the Australian Open earlier in the year. Sinner always had the match under control and won the major American tournament taking advantage of the early eliminations of Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic,

The world number 1 also confirmed to Fritz his great mental toughness and ability to win the most important points, which is the difference between a champion and a good player.

Jannik realizes the American dream in this epic year for him, while the United States of America still has to wait for the heir to Andy Roddick, the last American to win on home soil in 2003.
