German football in mourning, the legend Beckenbauer dies
German football is poorer today after the legendary “Kaiser” Franz Beckenbauer passed away at the age of 78.
According to the family announcement, “Cesari” passed away in his sleep yesterday Sunday with his family around him.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our husband and father, Franz Beckenbauer, passed away peacefully in his sleep yesterday, Sunday, surrounded by his family. We ask that you allow us to mourn in silence and refrain from any questions,” the Beckenbauer family announced.
On January 2, 2024, a documentary on the life of Franz Beckenbauer premiered on the German television network ARD. On the occasion of the documentary, Walter’s brother had revealed that things are not going well for Franz.
“I’d be lying if I said it was good and I don’t like to lie. It’s not going well, that’s the truth. Health faces successive ups and downs,” said his brother.
