FIFA announced this Thursday the nominees in various categories for the 2023 edition of The Best football awards, including the best male and female players. The best awards ceremony will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023.
In the last 12 months, the World Cups for men and women have been held, with the nominations taking into account the performance of the period from August 1, 2022 to August 20, 2023.
In addition to the players, FIFA has announced the names of the coaches nominated to win the best award, according to an open vote on the official website of the international football body.
In the list of 12 candidates for the award are names like that of Leo Messi, Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. Julian Alvarez, Marcelo Brozovic, Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Viktor Osimhen, Declan Rice and Bernardo Silva are also in contention. It is noticeable that Cristiano Ronaldo is missing.
FIFA has announced the nominees for The Best award, in the coach category, where there are five of them in the competition. Pep Guardiola, Simone Inzaghi, Ange Postecoglou, Luciano Spalletti and Xavi. The absolute favorite is Pep Guardiola, who managed to win three trophies with Manchester City.
