Lewis Hamilton takes pole position in the Hungarian GP! The seven-time world champion beats Max Verstappen by just three thousandths.

Second row all McLaren for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Third row, surprisingly for Guanyu Zhou (+0.362) ahead of Charles Leclerc. Alfa Romeo in a state of grace even with Valtteri Bottas, starting from the fourth row with Fernando Alonso. Rounding out the top ten were Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull and Nico Hulkenberg in the Ferrari-powered Haas.

Nothing to do instead for the other Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, who misses the passage to the final stage of qualifying by only two thousandths (his compatriot Alonso “burns” him in the extreme) and therefore will start from the sixth row together with another great exception: Esteban Ocon, winner of the daring Hungarian GP two years ago, his first and so far only victory in Formula 1. George Russell does worse, failing and preparing to start from the ninth and penultimate row with Yuki Tsunoda.
