Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has strangely declared war on Elon Musk and challenged him to a wrestling match after claiming the Tesla and SpaceX CEO is behind widespread speculation that this weekend’s election was rigged.
In a lengthy speech aired on state television yesterday, Maduro attacked the tech mogul, claiming his social media platform X was fabricating allegations that the election was stolen and labeling him a “big enemy” of Venezuela and a “representation of fascism” and the “extreme right”.
“Social media creates a virtual reality and who controls the virtual reality? Our new enemy, the famous Elon Musk”, declared Maduro, 61 years old. “He would like to invade Venezuela with his missiles and his armies.”
‘Do you want to meet? Let’s do it. Elon Musk, I’m ready. I’m not afraid of you, Elon Musk. Let’s fight wherever you want,” Maduro concluded.
Musk, 53, responded hours later via his X social network.
In a post featuring the article in which Maduro challenged Musk to a “match,” the latter responded by simply writing, “I agree.”
Continuing with the posts on X, Musk said that if he wins against Maduro, the latter must resign from being the “dictator” of Venezuela. In the opposite case, he said that he would provide Maduro with a free flight to the planet Mars.
Musk has published a series of posts on X claiming that the opposition candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez, won the election with an overwhelming majority.
He also shared a post from opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, along with a poster of Maduro wanted by the US State Department on narco-terrorism charges.
