Dortmund police are not classifying the Euro2024 semi-final between the Netherlands and England as high risk.

“We expect a peaceful event. There is no animosity between the two sets of fans. We anticipate a big and colorful football festival,” said a police spokeswoman.

However, special measures are still necessary due to the large crowd.

Up to 80,000 Dutch and 25,000 English fans are expected in the western German city, with only 65,000 on tickets.

The fan parks at Friedensplatz in the city and Westfalenpark near the stadium are likely to be packed with fans who do not have tickets for the match.

A planned fan march by thousands of Dutch fans wearing orange to the stadium, which has become one of the tournament’s most iconic images in previous rounds, also calls for police action. “Due to the amount of fans, we will deploy the appropriate forces,” said the police spokeswoman.
