Thomas Müller made strong statements after the elimination of Bayern Munich by Real Madrid. The German recalled other controversial episodes that have occurred in matches between these two teams.
“When you play against Real, strange things always happen. Unfortunately, these things happen all too often in Madrid. It also happened to me in 2017, with two goals from Cristiano,” said the attacker, referring to the last action of the match, where the winger raised the flag for offside, before De Ligt sent the ball into the net.
“The referee didn’t even go to VAR. It’s very strange that he blew the whistle so quickly,” Muller added.
While defender De Ligt said: “We all know the rules and it’s clear that if it’s not an obvious offside position, you have to let the action finish. It was embarrassing. Even Joselu’s goal was almost offside, but he let the action finish and then checked it… whereas in our case, no. Unbelievable”.
“To blow the whistle on such an action, at the last minute, is a serious mistake. I don’t know if it was offside or not, but if you can’t review it, we’ll never know. The winger apologized to me, he accepted the mistake”, added De Ligt.
