How did Lionel Messi save the 90-year-old woman held hostage by Hamas?
90-year-old Esther Cunio became famous in early October after being one of the first hostages to be freed by Hamas militants who had wreaked havoc on Israeli border towns in the border areas and posed with them in a photo.
Recently, the grandmother has narrated the whole terrible experience in a documentary entitled “Voices of October 7, the story of survival”, where she tells about the attack by Hamas on her residence in Nir Oz.
“I am an Argentinian like Messi and when the militants found out about this they told me that we are fans of the football player and therefore they let me go free without being hurt”, says the elderly woman.
In the October 7 attack in Israel, Esther was kidnapped along with 7 other members of her large family, 6 of them were released, while 2 others are still hostages.
Her full story will be told along with other similar stories of people in the documentary being filmed about one of the deadliest attacks in Israel.
