Cristiano Ronaldo could face an alleged sentence of 99 lashes in Iran for adultery, according to Iranian media outlets such as ‘Rouydad24’ and ‘Sharq Emroz’.
Iranian justice handed down the sentence to the 38-year-old Portuguese star of Al-Nassr, who is romantically involved with Georgina RodrÃguez, after traveling to Tehran with his team to play Persepolis in the Asian Champions League in September. A match that CR7’s team won 0-2.
During that visit to Iran, the footballer gave Fatemeh Hamami, a painter with 85% paralysis of the body, a signed jersey, a hug and a kiss, in gratitude for donating two of her works made with her feet.
The Iranian press claims that many Iranian lawyers have filed complaints against Cristiano Ronaldo for this action, as under Iranian law touching a single woman is tantamount to adultery.
It appears the Iranian justice system will have to sentence Cristiano Ronaldo to 99 lashes the next time he visits Iran, although the sentence could be waived by a judge if the acts are not reprehensible or the protagonists show remorse.
