Basketball/ The Germans enter history, the “panzers” win the finals of the World Cup
Since August 25, the World Basketball Championship has started in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines, where the spectacle has certainly not been missing and now the competition has gone to the last stage, as this Saturday the pair of finalists, the final which will be all European, between Germany and Serbia.
The two European representatives made a surprise in the semi-finals, where they eliminated Canada and the United States of America, where in the first semi-final, Serbia beat Canada with the result 95-86, with Bogdanovic being Serbia’s best scorer with 23 points, as much as Barrett of the Canadians.
In the other semi-final, the German “panzers” played a fantastic match, triumphing over the USA with a score of 113-111. After a balanced first half, closed with only 1 point advantage for the Americans, the Germans exploded with the return to the floor, to win the third period with 11 points. The USA tried until the end to reverse it, but it did not succeed, and now it has to measure the forces for the bronze medal with Canada. Obst’s 24 points was the game’s top scorer, leading Germany to qualification.
Meanwhile, on Sunday at 14:40 Serbia and Germany will meet in the final for the trophy, where for Germany this is the first final in history, while Serbia counts 5 world championship titles won as former Yugoslavia.
