Many people fear the seas and oceans because of the creatures that lurk in the depths, some of which are truly terrifying.
Researchers from the University of Western Australia and the organization “Kelpie Geosciences” have published a video recorded in the South Pacific on May 8, which takes your breath away.
The creature filmed at 1026 meters looks extraordinary, scientists say that it is “rarely seen”.
They were exploring the dark depths, using a submarine, when a giant squid, known as Taningia danae, appears in front of the camera.
She spread her tentacles, probably thinking she had secured lunch. This species, by the way, is known for two large photophores at the end of the tentacles that produce bioluminescence, LadBible reports.
So the squid, which reaches a maximum length of 2.3 meters and weighs up to 160 kilograms, has “headlights” for easier movement in the dark!
At the same time, they serve to confuse and deceive the prey.
“While watching the video, we realized that the camera had been ‘attacked’ by Taningia danae,” the researchers said.
