The life of the famous Spanish singer, Julio Iglesias, is appearing on the small screen through a series prepared by Netflix, with his approval and direction.

For the first time, the star will share details about both his life and his extraordinary music career.

The series, which is currently in development, will tell the story of how Iglesias became the first non-English-speaking artist to break into the American and Asian markets and experience massive success.

During his 55-year career, the Madrid-born artist has performed songs in 12 languages and more than 60 million viewers have enjoyed his performances.

“For the first time I decided to share the truth of my life with a global company like Netflix. After much thought, a very moving letter from Netflix Vice President Bela Bajaria was enough to convince me that Netflix was the ideal company to make this project happen,” Julio Iglesias said in a statement.

According to Hola, the popular singer first started his career as a promising footballer at Real Madrid before a serious injury in 1963 ended his football career.

However, while he was in hospital, a guitar he gave to a nurse in order to regain dexterity in his hands was the starting point for him to become one of the world’s best-selling artists.
