Job interviews can be awkward, especially for provocative questions like ‘what is your biggest weakness’ or ‘what would you do in a stressful situation’.

So one can imagine that in large corporations like Google something like this would be nerve wracking.

But a former employee of the tech giant recently revealed which question candidates got stuck on the most.

The young woman who claims to have worked for companies such as Google, Wix, and Rocket Money as a personnel manager, explains on the TikTok network about the questions that are supposed to separate “alum from sugar”.

User @hrbitch explains the question: “There’s a coffee shop in San Francisco with unlimited supply and demand, meaning it has all the coffee products, service tools, and a long line of customers waiting to buy.”

“The store is about 150 square meters. Tell me how much coffee does this shop sell in a day?”, she says about the tricky question, which according to her is the most unexpected for the interviewed candidates.

Several TikTok users gave their theories on the correct answer and flooded the comments section with ideas.

One of them replied: “Zero – it does not produce anything, because it did not mention employees.”

Another wrote: “It takes 30 seconds to fill the coffee cup, so about 120 coffees per hour, if it stays open for eight hours, that’s about 1000 coffees.”

The ideas were different, but finally the former chief of staff revealed the answer according to her.

She said: “There is no right or wrong answer because the interviewer is only trying to understand your way of thinking, so the details are unspecified, to understand your decision-making skills.”

But Google’s website says the company no longer uses confusing questions in its interviews.

“We just want to assess skills and if they fit the role, we don’t have confusing questions and our interviews are a lot of fun.”
