Many users have complained in recent weeks that YouTube has slowed down and videos are loading slowly even though they have no internet problems.
Many wrote in the comments that they noticed that YouTube slowed down if they used ad blockers and advised others to disable them.
Many people blamed Google for the problem with ad blockers, however, it turned out that the problem was caused by AdBlock, namely the latest update for Adblock Plus, version 5.17.0 to be exact.
Adblock Plus developers have identified the problem as a performance regression in their GitLab repository, and users experiencing problems with Adblock and Adblock Plus services on YouTube and other platforms are advised to update their add-ons.
We recall that in November of last year, theories were spread that Google is deliberately slowing down YouTube in Mozilla Firefox, while it works without problems in Chrome. Google denied those rumors and blamed installed ad blockers.
