Filming on a biopic about singer Michael Jackson will begin this month, according to film studios Lionsgate and Universal Pictures.

The king of pop will be portrayed by the singer’s 27-year-old nephew. The film, titled ‘Michael’, which was announced last year, will hit cinemas worldwide in 2025.

Director Antoine Foucault (58), known for the films “Training Day” and “The Righteous”, last January revealed plans for a biopic about the King of Pop, and he assigned the lead role to the singer’s grandson, 27-year-old Jafar Jackson .

“I don’t think there is an artist who was as strong, charismatic and genius in the field of music as Michael Jackson was. My music video production was heavily influenced by his videos. His music and images are part of my worldview. “I couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring his story and music to the big screen,” Fuka said in the film’s announcement.

The script was written by John Logan, who among others wrote ‘Gladiator’ and ‘Spectre’ from the James Bond series. British producer Graham King, who produced Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s biopic Bohemian Rhapsody and oversees Jackson’s estate, is also involved in the film.

According to Lionsgate, the film will shed light on Jaxo’s entire life. With hits like Billie Jean, Beat It and Thriller he was one of the most popular singers in the world. His public image has been marred by an eccentric lifestyle and allegations of child sexual abuse, which have not been confirmed in court. The pop star, who performed on stage with his siblings as children, died in 2009, just months before his planned This Is It farewell concerts.
