‘Last Christmas’, sung by duo George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley as part of the band ‘wham’ has returned to the top of the Christmas music charts this year in the UK.

It was named the best song in the BBC Radio 1 Official Chart.

The musician Ridgeley has reacted on his social networks where he has expressed that he would like to have his colleague George by his side, after all these years, to enjoy the ranking in the first place.

After the singer Michael passed away 7 years ago, exactly on Christmas day.

“I feel like mission accomplished, as Michael wrote the song with the intention of it reaching the historic moment,” wrote the British artist.

“Last Christmas” was originally released by Wham in December 1984.

In that period, it spent five consecutive weeks at number two in the UK Singles Chart.

The song has since been covered in various ways by many artists, including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Jimmy Eat World and the Backstreet Boys.
