Montenegro holds the “laziest citizen” competition, here are the rules
Montenegro launched its traditional “laziest citizen” contest on Friday to determine the “laziest citizen” in the “long sleeping time” competition.
The country’s traditional comedy competition started in the Etno village of Brezna, located near the city of Nikšić, with a record turnout of 21 people to compete for a prize of 1,000 euros ($1,086.56) and the title of “laziest citizen”.
The organizer of the competition, Mico Blagojevic, told the media that the competition was held for the first time 12 years ago because of the myths that spread that Montenegrins are “lazy”.
“So the whole world got to know us,” Blagojevic said, adding that Dubravka Aleksic, who holds the record of 117 hours before bed set in 2021, is among this year’s competitors.
According to the rules of the competition, participants who compete lying down are allowed to sleep, meet their needs for food and drink, read books and use the phone; standing up is considered a violation of the rules.Contestants are allowed to fulfill their personal needs every 8 hours.
