However, according to what is reported by the “New York Times”, the seven-time winner of the “Golden Ball” has signed an important agreement with the Arab country. He will actually be the image of Saudi tourism and will receive about 22.5 million euros in return, equal to 25 million dollars.
In the contract reviewed by the well-known American newspaper, the obligations of the Argentine “10” will not be many. For Messi, it will be enough to go to the Saudi kingdom at least once a year, post something from this country on his social networks, post them with a hashtag approved by the Saudis, and rest in Saudi Arabia with his family his. These holidays will be fully paid for by the government of this country.
That’s not all, however. Within the agreement there is also a basic point, which the player must respect: that of silence. “The document also contains an important condition for Saudi officials: Messi cannot say anything that would ‘tarnish’ Saudi Arabia, a country that has faced widespread criticism particularly for its failure to respect human rights.” – says the statement of the “New York Times”.
It is unclear whether the contract being reviewed by the Times is the current version of the agreement. The document, dated January 1, 2021, was signed by Messi and his brother Rodrigo, who serves as his commercial director, but has not been signed by Saudi officials.
