HBO Max will release a series about the creation of Pennywise titled “Welcome to Derry” based on the novel “IT” by Stephen King.
The new series aspires to provide more information about director Andres Muschietti’s first and second IT films.
“I’m thrilled that the story of Derry, Maine’s most haunted town, continues to tell its story, and I’m delighted that Andres Muschietti will continue to infuse the story with thrills as only he knows how. His talented sister, Barbara, will also be part of the team,” said Stephen King, adding, “Red balloons everywhere!”
According to Deadline, Muschietti will direct several episodes of the upcoming HBO Max and Warner Bros. series.
“We look forward to sharing the ‘secrets’ of Stephen’s book with all its humor, soul, humanity and horror,” the director and his sister Barbara said in a joint statement.
