TravelAlbania may not be the first place that comes to mind for a beach holiday, but resorts half an hour away from Tirana offer golden beaches, calm seas and affordable hotels.
This is how the prestigious British “The Guardian” begins its article, which lists Albania among the countries with wonderful beaches that can be enjoyed without much expense.
“The long stretch of crescent-shaped coastline offers all-day sun, and Albania’s opening up after years of restrictions helps keep prices competitive, especially after the conversion of pounds to the local currency. A cheap option to get there is to fly to Corfu and then take a ferry for around €20 each way,” writes the prestigious British.
“The Guardian” stops in Dhërmi where you can experience a different beach every day. A picnic tent for four costs around £20 and lunch in a nice restaurant starts at £8 per person.
Albania, one of Europe’s fastest-growing travel destinations, will focus on alternative rather than mass tourism, in a move government officials hope will help differentiate it from competitors.
“The small Balkan state, once hermetically sealed off from the outside world, has grown in popularity due to a reputation that is increasingly seen as trendy and exotic. Last year it attracted 7.5 million visitors, more than double its population, from another record of 6.4 million in 2019,” writes “The Guardian”.

SportsFernando Alonso was the main protagonist of free practice at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Aston Martin driver set the fastest time, taking first place and surprising rivals Red Bull, who had been dominating until that point.
Alonso was 169 thousandths faster than Max Verstappen, while Sergio Perez was only third, despite being the fastest on the track in the first tests. Ferrari doesn’t shine. After the delay of almost a second and a half from the rivals during the morning, the distance remained considerable even in the second tests. Charles Leclerc was fourth, being 46 hundredths slower at the finish line.
The fantastic appearance of Nico Hulkenberg, who with Team Has climbed up to fifth place, being nine thousandths away from Ferrari, was also unexpected.
Aston Martin’s good performance was also confirmed by Lance Stroll, who was sixth, 543 thousandths slower than team-mate Fernando Alonso.
Before this Sunday’s race in Sakhir, Red Bull had given signals that it is the car to beat. But, with the appearance of Alonso, the start of the World Cup in Formula 1 becomes very interesting.
The only one that doesn’t shine is Mercedes, which confirmed the dissatisfaction and lack of reliability shown during previous tests. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell still have a lot of work to do to be competitive.

TechnologyA new board game seems to have gone viral on social media for all the wrong reasons.
Board games usually provide laughter, fun, knowledge and good times with company. Of course, in the case of I’d Kill Hitler, a new game sold through Amazon worldwide has gone viral in recent days, and no one can figure out what its creators were up to.
The case was raised by an Australian mother and descendant of Holocaust survivors who said she was “disgusted” when she saw the special game on the shelf of a Melbourne toy store. Natalie Siegel was looking for a present for her 11-year-old daughter when she noticed the “disturbing” toy.
Siegel said she was “surprised” when she first saw the toy on the shelf, and felt an anger toward whoever created it. “When I saw the word ‘Hitler’, I was disgusted and shocked,” she told local media. “It’s really disgusting that someone is making money off of this game,” she added. The issue quickly escalated and many argued that it should not be sold.
For their part, the creators of the game stated however that the title of the board game is controversial, it was chosen to attract attention. For the record, the game, which is played by children over 14 years old, is sold in various stores in the world, while on Amazon it costs 32 euros.

SportsGunmen today attacked a supermarket in Argentina, owned by the family of Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, and left a threatening message for the soccer star.
One of the two men on a motorcycle was caught on camera driving up to the premises in Messi’s hometown of Rosario, about 180 miles northwest of Buenos Aires, repeatedly firing at the metal grills over the windows and front door of the convenience store.Fourteen shots were reportedly fired at the supermarket.
The gunmen left a handwritten message at the scene which read: ‘Messi, we are following you! Javkin will not take care of you’.
Pablo Javkin is the current mayor of Rosario, the largest city in the central province of Santa Fe.
A local TV station that reported on the attack claimed the message suggested drug criminals may be trying to extort money from the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Fortunately, there were no injuries from the attack, as the police have taken over the incident.

EntertainmentStranger Things is officially coming to London’s West End. Check out a teaser below for the play set a quarter of a century before the Netflix smash.
Deadline revealed last year that Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers were launching a shingle along with the Stephen Daldry-helmed stage play and a multitude of other projects and today’s news is confirmation, with Stranger Things: The First Shadow set to begin its run at the Phoenix Theatre later this year once Paul Mescal’s A Streetcar Named Desire turn comes to an end.
Stranger Things writer Kate Trefry is penning the play based on an original story by the Duffers and His Dark Materials scribe Jack Thorne.
The play also counts some of the industry’s finest among its director and producer lineup. Acclaimed screenwriter and playwright Daldry is directing with Justin Martin, and 21 Laps is producer alongside the prolific Sonia Friedman Productions and Netflix.
The First Shadow is set in Stranger Things’ home of Hawkins in 1959, around 25 years before the smash hit TV series. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and leave town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.
Daldry is understood to have spent a year working with masters of illusion to develop magic tricks and special effects for the play. He set up a series of workshops to help the creative team assess how the effects would look in the production.
“Collaborating with the brilliant Stephen Daldry has been nothing short of inspiring, and Kate Trefry has written a play that is at turns surprising, scary, and heartfelt,” said the Duffer Brothers. “You will meet endearing new characters, as well as very familiar ones, on a journey into the past that sets the groundwork for the future of Stranger Things.”

TechnologyYouTube has been accused of collecting data on children under 13 watching videos, in breach of a UK data privacy code designed to protect children.
Campaigner Duncan McCann has lodged a formal complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). He says the site is collecting data on what videos kids are watching, where they’re watching and what devices they’re watching on.
YouTube said it had invested in protecting families.
“We remain committed to continuing our engagement with the ICO on this priority work, and with other key stakeholders, including children, parents and child protection experts,” a spokesperson said.
The platform is owned by American tech giant Alphabet, which is also the parent company of Google.
The firm has always said its service was not intended for use by children under the age of 13 and offers a separate children’s app called YouTube Kids that requires parental approval.
His complaint is believed to be the first test of the ICO’s child code to be introduced
In 2020 it issued a children’s code, giving tech firms a year to implement it. Its conditions include providing a high level of privacy for children.
According to regulator Ofcom, 89% of UK children aged three to 17 used the platform in 2021.
McCann is acting in a personal capacity but works for campaign group the 5Rights Foundation, which has championed the code.
“My favorite reform that YouTube should do is actually when you log into YouTube, they don’t collect any unnecessary information and they don’t process any unnecessary information,” he said.
In 2019, YouTube was fined $170m (£139m) by a US regulator for breaching children’s privacy laws. This followed a similar allegation that it was collecting data on children under 13 without parental consent.
YouTube did not admit liability but paid the fine and also changed its business practices as a result, said Stephanie Hare, author of Technology is Not Neutral.

EntertainmentA recently released horror movie is so disturbing that people are leaving the theater to vomit.
The movie in question, The Outwaters, was released a little over three weeks ago and viewers are already massively moved by the sights and sounds of the movie.
It’s even been reported that the film switched to the Apple Watch’s heart rate monitors and caused anxiety attacks during its 1 hour and 40 minute running time.
According to the film’s synopsis, the film follows “a field trip in the Mojave Desert that turns creepy when a group of campers begin experiencing unexplained sounds, vibrations and unnatural animal behavior.
“Then one night everything changes, sending the four on a terrifying journey through terror.”
But viewers who managed to watch the film have definitely flocked to Twitter to share their experiences.
“The Outwaters is the first movie that’s given me nightmares since I was a kid,” one viewer bravely admitted, while another added that they’re still “chewing over” the film.
“Not sure if it worked for me,” they wrote.
Meanwhile, someone else wrote: “The sound made me so dizzy I had to leave the theater to throw up. This has never happened to me before.
“It’s more disturbing than scary if that makes any sense,” added another.
