USAThe Pentagon may be forced to reveal everything it knows about UFOs in the next 300 days. This will happen as a bipartisan coalition of senators plans to force the declassification of the US government’s secret UFO files.
Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, in partnership with Republican senators Marco Rubio of Florida and Mike Rounds of South Dakota, are leading the effort to pass the bill in question.
If passed, then a nine-member review panel would be appointed to evaluate all classified government UFO records.
The news follows explosive and bizarre public testimony by now-retired senior intelligence official David Grusch, who claimed that the US military and defense contractor prevented the release of evidence of downed UFOs, ‘beings ‘ found and related deaths.
“You will now have a process through which we will declassify these materials,” said a spokeswoman for Senator Schumer.
Open debate on the proposed amendment will begin next week as the Senate considers the specifics of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the Intelligence Authorization Act (IAA) for fiscal year 2024.
Meanwhile, it is being clarified that Senator Schumer’s plan would direct President Biden to select the nine-person UFO dossier review panel, pending a Senate approval process.
Also, the Schumer amendment would give federal agencies just 300 days to organize and produce their internal, classified UAP records and provide them to the new review board.
Recall that in 2013, a classified information review board declassified and released 5 million documents related to UFOs.

EntertainmentJames Cameron is ready to direct a drama series about the tragedy of the submarine Titan in the Atlantic, where the five passengers lost their lives.
As The Sun reports, the director of Titanic is in talks to bring to the screen the tragic story of the submarine that sparked global interest a few weeks ago.
According to sources, a streaming platform approached the acclaimed director, who has explored the Titanic by submarine 30 times, to tell the story in his own unique way. The source said the submarine tragedy is being tackled for one of the world’s biggest streaming platforms and James is the first choice for the director’s position.
“He told the story of the Titanic with such compassion that it seems like a natural step for him to do so,” said the same source.
Among the names heard to be considered for the role of the protagonist are Hollywood star Matt Damon and comedian Kumail Nanjiani.

Business UncategorizedAnother day, another social media platform to post on.
The launch of Threads on 6 July marked the latest major short-form text platform available to social media users, following Twitter, Mastodon and Bluesky ā plus a raft of other, smaller competitors.
Like many of us, big companies are struggling to keep up with the number of social media platforms vying for their time and attention. Theyāre faced with the important choice of which apps to choose, in a market where social media can be an important brand-building tool and enable them to target consumers where they are most active.
For the past decade, Itās been all but required for serious brands to maintain a social media presence, says Nathan Allebach, creative director at Allebach Communications, which has partnered with brands including Utz Snacks and Steak-umm to build out their social media presences.
Not only is it a major avenue to meet consumers, but social media is alsoĀ a key contributor for brand discoveryĀ ā which companies hope will translate into sales across generations of shoppers.
Yet instead of scrambling to claim digital real estate across all these newly emerging platforms, some companies are choosing to be more judicious about which platforms they choose to join. In some cases, theyāre learning from brands who jumped the social media ship years ago.
Bullying and polarisation
One of the first large brands to make the move was Lush Cosmetics, which in November 2021 decided to stop posting on social media platforms controlled by Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
The beauty company initially dropped off the platforms in 2019, due to concerns about fighting with ever-changing social media algorithms as well as the companyās worry about the potentially negative impact of social media on young people.
āWe are a social brand, and community has been key for us,ā says Annabelle Baker, Lushās global brand director. āWhen we joined social media, Facebook and those platforms were everything we were looking for initially: they were direct links to the communities.ā
But Baker says they withdrew when social media changed to being inherently less social and user-centric, mediated instead by algorithms controlled by companies. Although Lush re-emerged on the platforms during Covid-19 in order to reach customers during lockdowns, the beauty brand has now gone dark again. Theyāve been off social media for almost two years ā and donāt have current plans to come back.
Time, say social media experts, is a driver pushing away brands: it can be a tall task to ask often junior employees to keep tabs on so many platforms. Itās a situation that has become more pressing with the new boom in Twitter alternatives, where a clear winner hasnāt yet emerged.
But some brands have also been feeling a distinct sense of unease about social media in general. First, like Lush, some companies are unhappy about the way the platforms operate and their management.
But perhaps more pressing is the risk of followers turning on brands amid the volatility and toxicity of some social media user bases. As social media has polarised society in unexpected ways, brands have found many users quick to criticise an account they believe has mis-stepped.
When luxury fashion brand Bottega Veneta left much of social media in 2021, its creative director Daniel Lee cited āa mood of playground bullying on social mediaā. He told The Guardian: āI donāt want to collude in an atmosphere that feels negative. ā
Some brands have also been feeling a distinct sense of unease about social media in general
āThe main utility of an organic social media presence for most brands is activating the 1% of their super fans and haters. Ultimately, every team has to assess the risk-reward ratio of how much to invest ā¦ the investment isnāt worth it to every brand, especially with how many platforms there are to consider and how precarious they can be,ā says Allebach.
To join or not to join?
The launch of Threads has brought the stay-or-go conversation back to the forefront.
Along with audiences already on other emerging platforms, Metaās purported Twitter killer already has more than 100 million users, less than a week after it began ā in other words, a growing group of potential customers for brands.
Yet deciding whether to embrace the new apps is tricky.
For one, brands are still struggling with the issues of reputation and user abuse. And some brands may also have concerns with Threads specifically, as Meta has prior precedent of launching apps designed to compete with and supplant existing incumbents (Instagram Reels, for instance, was designed to tackle TikTok), which donāt always succeed. Companies could end up devoting significant resources to building a presence on a platform that disappears in a few monthsā time.
Brands will make their social media decisions individually ā but Allebach says many still ultimately feel pressure to hang a shingle on these new platforms.
āAt this point, itās hard to imagine a future where brands start pulling out of social media platforms en masse,ā he says. Yet he adds itās possible weāll see more brands pulling back, especially if “they canāt quantify the value or start believing the risks outweigh the rewardsā.
Lushās Baker says that her company isnāt eager to leap back into social media with Threads ā even with the large audience. āItāll be a test of time to see whether people stay there and actively use it,ā she says. āBut Iām not tempted to jump on Threads for the time being.ā

Entertainment USAThe Los Angeles-based Screen Actors Guild has officially gone on strike, marking the beginning of the biggest shutdown Hollywood has seen in 40 years.
The union hopes to force the broadcasting giants to agree to demands on issues including fairer profit sharing and better working conditions. The strike means 160,000 performers will join their ranks, joining a separate writers’ strike.
The actors are demanding better pay and working conditions from streaming services, as well as a pledge that artificial intelligence and computer-generated faces and voices will not be used to replace actors. Stars Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt walked out of the Oppenheimer premiere when the strike began, according to director Christopher Nolan.
At a news conference Thursday in California, the union’s executive director and chief negotiator said the strike is the last tool they are using. “They have left us with no alternative,” he added.
On Wednesday, the union officially known as the Screen Actors Guild. The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, or SAG-AFTRA, was unable to reach an agreement with the major studios. The breakdown in talks led to the union’s bargaining committee voting unanimously to hold the strike.

Entertainment TechnologyAn animation depicting how the Titan submarine exploded has been viewed more than 5 million times in the 11 days since the video was posted on YouTube.
The 6-minute, 20-second clip was uploaded to the site on June 30 by AiTelly, a YouTube channel that publishes original 4K and 3D engineering animations, according to the account’s page. The Titan is believed to have exploded on June 18, less than two hours after plunging into the famous Titanic wreck at a depth of about 5,500 meters in the North Atlantic. All five passengers on board the submarine were killed.
The narrative begins by explaining that an intrusion is āa process of destruction collapsing from within the object itself. In the explosion it expands, in the intervention it shrinks.
The accompanying animation showed a 3D OceanGate-branded submarine being crushed and destroyed. He attributes the catastrophic failure to the Titan’s controversial carbon fiber construction.
“Existing technology is based on steel, titanium and aluminum. These are what kept the other submarines from crashing. But the Titan had an experimental design,” the video says.
The animation was created using an open-source software called Blender, according to an AiTelly representative, who asked to remain anonymous to avoid trouble for his current job as an airline engineer.
The spokesperson told The Post that three team members are behind AiTelly. They created the animation by taking information and measurements posted about the submarine on OceanGate’s website and Google, then inputting it into Blender 3D modeling software, a process that took 12 hours, the spokesman added.

TechnologyGoogle’s parent company Alphabet is rolling out its artificial intelligence chatbot Bard in Europe and Brazil.
This is the biggest expansion of the product since its launch in March in the US and UK and heats up the rivalry with Microsoft’s ChatGPT.
Both are examples of generative Artificial Intelligence that can answer questions in a human-like manner.
Bard’s EU launch was delayed after the bloc’s main data regulator raised privacy concerns.
The Irish Data Protection Commission said the tech giant had not provided enough information about how its AI-generating tool protected the privacy of Europeans to get a green light to operate on the Block.
The company said it has since met with supervisors to reassure them about issues related to transparency, choice and control.
In a conference call with reporters, Amar Subramanya, Bard’s vice president of engineering, added that users can choose to have their data collected or not.
Subramanya declined to comment on whether there were plans to develop a Bard app.
“Bard is an experiment,” he said. “We want to be brave and responsible.”

SportsLionel Messi is yet to decide between retiring or playing the next World Cup in United States.
Every time Lionel Messi speaks, the world of football stops, and this time was no exception. Since his departure from PSG, the Rosario spoke to the media on several occasions and now an extensive interview that he gave for Public TV in the framework of the program ‘Llave a la Eternindad’ (key to eternity in English) has been revealed. In it, Leo touched on various topics, but the Argentine National Team was the main topic and surprised with what he said about his participation in the next World Cup, a topic that he has everyone in suspense.
When asked about his withdrawal from the Albiceleste, Leo replied: “Honestly, I don’t even know how long I’ll be in the National Team, it will happen when it has to happen. After achieving everything in this time, now all that remains is to enjoy. God will say when it will be the time, I don’t know when the time will be, now it’s day to day”.
The response of the top winner of the Ballon d’Or (7) did not go unnoticed, since days ago, in China, he had hinted that he would not be in the next World Cup. Now, he changed his words and left the door more than open to that possibility and made it clear that it will depend on the day to day and how he physically arrives. That is to say, if the ’10’ arrives willingly and fit, he will play.
Argentina will defend its champion title in 2026. The World Cup event, which will take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada, will begin on June 9 and end on July 18. In case of playing it, Messi will turn 39 during the tournament, so his participation could mark his retirement, just as Zinedine Zidane did in 2006.

USAIn May, hackers linked to the Chinese state accessed the email accounts of about 25 organizations, including those of the US government, in a covert cyber espionage campaign, Microsoft and US officials announced on Wednesday.
The United States discovered the intrusions into federal government accounts “quite quickly” and managed to prevent further intrusions, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said in an interview with the American television network ABC.
The US State Department was one of the government agencies affected, according to a person familiar with the investigation, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Microsoft identified the hacker group as Storm-0558.
“Microsoft has contacted all organizations that were targeted by the attack or those that were directly compromised and provided them with important information to help them investigate the matter and respond,” the company said in a statement.
Microsoft did not say which organizations or governments were affected, but added that the group of hackers had targeted entities in Western Europe.
The Chinese embassy in London called the accusation “disinformation” and the US government “the world’s largest hacker empire and global cyber thief”, as its officials put it. China has consistently denied involvement in hacking operations, despite the available evidence.
White House National Security Council spokesman Adam Hodge said an intrusion into Microsoft’s cloud security system had “affected unclassified systems,” but gave no other details.
The State Department announced that it had taken immediate steps to secure our systems following the detected intrusion.
Private-sector cybersecurity experts say recently discovered hacking activities show Chinese groups are improving their cyber capabilities.

SportsQueensberry Promotions has confirmed that Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou will face off in a boxing match in October.
In recent days, IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk held his official press conference with Daniel Dubois, as did Anthony Joshua before his meeting with Dillian Whyte.
A day after these two media events, it has been announced that WBC heavyweight champion Fury will meet UFC legend Ngannou on October 28 in Saudi Arabia.
Reports had indicated that the fight would effectively be an image war and it is known that Fury will not be putting his world title on the line. However, the bout will be held under official boxing rules and in a standard boxing ring.
Ngannou left the UFC on a six-fight winning streak and as the UFC heavyweight champion, with his last victory against Cyril Gane via unanimous decision in January 2022.

Culture LifeStyleWe feel the haunting power of fate every day of our lives. Our umbrella breaks a few minutes before the rain starts, the elevator door closes in our faces, we get stuck in traffic when we should be fast sometime, our plane flight is canceled. It is in our nature to feel upset and suffer when faced with such things.
However, for Stoic philosophers, consuming your energies through negative reactions does nothing to help you solve your problems or find peace with yourself. Of course, much of what happens in life is out of our control.
But we can control how we react to the problems and tragedies that fate throws our way. Seneca, a Stoic philosopher and Roman statesman of the 1st century, said that one of the best ways to react to problems is to laugh at them: “We should take things easy, because it is more humane to laugh at life.” than to mourn for itā¦ Laughter gives it a fair prospect of hope, while mourning for things which cannot be hoped to be corrected is worthless.”
To illustrate his point, imagine yourself having a terrible day at work. You try your best, but nothing seems to go in your favor. You feel more tired and frustrated with each passing hour, and you can’t wait for the work day to be over. Then, as you’re walking home in a rage, a bird randomly flies by and drops a glass on your head.
Freeze at first. It is something so unexpected that at first you are shocked. But then, you start laughing in disbelief. And you can’t help but burst into a free laughter that expresses surrender to what happened: “Laughter expresses our tenderest feelings, and shows that nothing is great, serious or even miserable in all the trappings of our existence “.
Laughter ā at yourself or the situation you find yourself in ā shows a sudden inner understanding. You finally realize, in every cell of your body, that nothing could have prevented what happened from happening. And yet, you’re still fine. And your soulful laughter frees you from a tension that has been slowly building throughout the day: your conflict with fate and its acceptance.
As the Austrian psychiatrist and holocaust survivor Viktor Frankel says in the book “Man’s Search for the Meaning of Life”: “Seeing things in the frame of humor is a kind of manipulation that is learned by mastering the art of living.”
“What you want is so great, supreme and almost divine, so it should not be abandoned” – begins Seneca’s essay entitled “On peace of mind”. He notes that finding inner peace is a natural human goal, and one that spans histories, cultures, and social classes.
Seneca said that very few people are on the right path to lasting peace and happiness. Meanwhile, most people are busy pursuing empty pleasures, worrying about their turbulent desires or their possessions. Why?
One reason is the failure to embrace a central tenet of the Stoic school of philosophy: the awareness that much of life is governed by fate and probabilities. The Stoics believed that we should learn to accept and embrace this fact, rather than trying to fight what cannot be changed.
Everyone, regardless of their wealth, reputation or skills, is at the mercy of fate. And this uncertainty about life and death, good fortune and misfortune, is at the heart of what it is to be human. And yet, most people suffer when things don’t go their way.
They are frustrated and angry, as they cannot accept the power of chance, something over which they clearly have no control. And fighting against the unchangeableālike the past, a bad disease, or other people’s decisionsāis not only futile, but exhausting.
This argument comes from the depth of Seneca’s personal experience. As a young lawyer preparing for public life in Rome, his life plan was disrupted for a decade by an illness. Later, after amassing wealth and influence in the empire, he fell victim to the temptations of power: He was exiled twice by his student, the infamous Roman emperor Nero, who persecuted him and finally ordered him to kill himself.
Despite his misfortune, Seneca seemed to have found plenty of room to maneuver in the prevailing framework of fate. He was a sharp philosopher, satisfied with life, but also a very active public figure in politics. He embraced the uncertainty of his life, and found peace deep within himself.
To be happy, he said, we must focus only on what is in our power: how we perceive the world and how we choose to act. So in the face of adversity, we must learn how to laugh.
What Seneca describes in the book “On Tranquility of Mind” is an undivided love over one’s life, both in fortune and misfortune, to the extent that even something tragic cannot threaten it. This is the most stoic interpretation of “Amor fati,” or loving your destiny, a term attributed to the 19th-century German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, who wrote extensively on the value of laughter.
Although he disliked Seneca and most of the other Stoics for their gloomy and resigned outlook on life, both seem to agree on the power of laughter to cope with life’s difficulties. In his masterpiece, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Nietzsche alludes to the great power of the Devil in causing difficulties in people’s lives.
And through laughter, and not hatred, the Devil’s gravity in our lives can disappear: “Man does not kill out of anger, but out of laughter. So let’s kill the spirit of his gravity!”. The same goes for freedom of choice in one’s life. Nietzsche discusses the great goal of living wholeheartedly and courageously.
According to him, people should try to channel their natural power to take risks and efforts because failing is better than not trying. And failures should not prevent people from trying again, and with the same joy to live it.
Nietzsche writes: “O you higher people, haven’t you all failed? Be happy no matter what! Learn to laugh at yourself as you should laugh!”. Nietzsche understood, as Seneca did earlier, that if you are overwhelmed by what you cannot change, then you will fail to act on the things you can change, such as living the life you want.
Fate has a tight grip on everyone, and life isn’t always fair or easy, but living it can still be wonderful. Instead of feeling defeated by adversity, you can welcome it with confidence, smile and keep striving for better after it. Fate and failure only hurt those who cannot come to terms with them.
