TechnologyBillionaire Elon Musk has introduced his artificial intelligence company “xAI” to compete with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGpt and Google.
According to the site xAI, the owner of Tesla will manage the company separately from others, but the technology that will be developed will benefit his companies, including Twitter, the social network that at the moment has to face the rivalry of Threads, the platform newly created by Meta.
“xAI’s goal is to understand the true nature of the universe,” Musk writes on Twitter, adding that the new company’s goal is to “understand reality” and answer life’s big questions.
The startup consists of former researchers from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Tesla and the University of Toronto. The team is led by Dan Hendrycks, who currently heads the Center for AI Security, an organization based in San Francisco.
Hendrycks was one of the signatories of the June letter to world leaders, which warned that AI is a threat to human existence on a par with pandemics and nuclear war.
Musk has also repeatedly warned about the dangers of artificial intelligence, calling it “our greatest existential threat”. The billionaire co-founded OpenAi in 2015 and left in 2018 to focus on Tesla.

SportsCarlos Alcaraz has managed to triumph in the Wimbledon grand final in tennis by defeating Serbian Novak Djokovic.
Although he lost the first set 1-6, the 20-year-old Spanish talent performed a miracle, achieving the great reversal. He found the necessary composure and combined it with speed yesterday, the class he possesses, to deliver a remarkable final. On the other hand, Novak Djokovic was very nervous in this final. He argued with the judge, and at one point even destroyed the racket.
The Spaniard won the second set with a narrow score of 7-6, while the game went completely in his favor when he easily took the third set 6-1. The Serbian tennis player, who is number two in the world, won the fourth set 3-6, while in the end, Carlos Alcaraz sealed the victory in this final by winning the fifth set 6-4.
For the number one in the world, this was the first triumph at Wimbledon and with the performance shown in this final, we can safely say that tennis now has a new king.

TravelKsamil has long been the favorite destination of local and foreign tourists thanks to its beauty and fascinating beaches.
In the most famous advertising city for the first time, Ksamili appeared in Times Square, in the heart of New York.
From the images published in the video, the beauties of Ksamil are promoted. The video was also shared on social networks by Prime Minister Edi Rama. The last foreign media to evaluate Albanian beaches was the well-known American magazine Travel of Path, which dedicated an article to it.
The foreign media recommended our country, writing that Albania should definitely be on the travel list of every visitor, not only for its natural beauty, but also because of the low cost.
Mediterranean Europe is a favorite destination for millions of Americans. Famous for its crystal clear waters, picturesque coastal villages and incredibly ancient sites, the region is gearing up for a record-breaking increase in tourism this season, The Travel of Path writes in an article.
As strange as it sounds, one of the most beautiful swimming tourist spots in the Mediterranean, which has recently been called the “Maldives of Europe”, is attracting a large number of visitors.
We’re not talking about Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, Montenegro, or any of the Greek islands, but Albania’s wildly underrated Ksamil, which should definitely be on your travel bucket list.
“Maldives of Europe” an underrated Balkan country
The “Maldives of Europe”, Ksamili is a small town with a beach in South Albania, on a coastal strip commonly called the Albanian Riviera, which lies in the turquoise Ionian Sea and far from the Greek island of Corfu, writes Atsh. After the pandemic, Albania has become known as one of the warm, sunny, trendiest countries in Europe due to its stunning nature and rich culture.
But tourists arriving at Tirana’s airport, the country’s largest, are often disappointed when they don’t immediately get the “Maldives” vibe they were expecting: They have to make a short trip to Durrës, the closest port to Tirana. , and a visit to the undeveloped beach, where the sea is gray and the beaches are pebbly. To experience the coastal charm of Albania, you must go to the South.
The Long Journey South to Heaven
The Albanian capital and its accompanying port are filled with monuments from the communist era and although they make for an exciting city break, Tirana or Durrës exist in a completely different realm from that of the southern Albanian coast.
The easiest way to travel in Albania is to rent a car, as inter-city buses regularly do not run on time and train service between cities is non-existent, making the mission of reaching the “European Maldives” a bit more difficult. complicated.
Driving along the rugged Albanian coast on a road path that winds through subtropical reserves, deep valleys and beachside villages, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the azure Adriatic and Ionian seas, perhaps the most beautiful small seas that make up part of The wider Mediterranean.
The shortest distance between Tirana, where the main international airport is, Saranda, the largest city in Southern Albania, is only 4 hours and 55 minutes. Here the seas are already clean and thriving, and offer daily ferries to Corfu, Greece.
14 km from Saranda, along the SH81 road, there is a much more attractive unusual city, which will become the next big thing of the Mediterranean.
Ksamil
Ksamili is a coastal workers’ village built in the communist years, when Albania was under dictatorship, outside the municipal limits of Saranda and on the way to Butrint, with the sole purpose of promoting the production of olive oil and mandarin oranges.
With a population of less than 10,000, it has come a long way since then, turning its focus to tourism, which has continued to grow at a rapid pace since the restoration of democracy in Albania and is now an escape very affordable, sunny idyllic that most Americans are completely unaware of.
With the white beaches, calm atmosphere and crystal clear seas, it is easy to understand why a comparison with the Maldives would have arisen, writes Atsh. Ksamil is essentially a place of relaxation, with only a handful of tourist accommodations, AirBnBs, and hotels to meet the requirements.
You won’t find ultra-luxury resorts, all-inclusive hotels, or those dreaded expat communities known for skyrocketing prices. In fact, there are no five-star properties listed on Booking.com, making this one of Europe’s last surviving beach destinations that has yet to be tapped by luxury brands.
Very affordable
Some of the more expensive hotels in the area, such as Hotel Livia or Hotel Piramida, welcome guests with rates as low as US$84 and US$135 per night respectively, an affordable price for the high tourist season, while there are many secluded villas and beachfront apartments in the city center for US$66 per night.
For comparison, nightly rates for similar properties in Oia, one of the largest settlements on the Greek island of Santorini, start at US$221 for August dates on the same booking platform, although they can go up to US$7,903 (for a private pool villa).
The Balearic island of Mallorca in Spain offers a double room in a “good” hotel with breakfast for up to US$215 per night. By staying in Ksamil, you can enjoy similar amenities at a much cheaper price. If you’re a culture enthusiast, you’re also in luck, as most of the historical attractions nearby are either free to visit or have a nominal “entrance fee”.
Visiting the ancient Greco-Roman ruins of Butrint, you’ll see a well-preserved Roman theater and numerous buildings from the Hellenic period that are still standing, and you’ll only pay US$10.55.
At the same time, the Leather Castle, a medieval hilltop castle with a restaurant overlooking Saranda, Ksamil and the wider Riviera, is free to visitors. You won’t find a better holiday deal than the Albanian Riviera anywhere in the Mediterranean.
But why is Ksamil so cheap and unvisited if it’s so amazing, you might ask?
A hidden subtropical gem
Unlike Greece or Spain, or any major Mediterranean power, Albania is neither in the European Union nor in the Eurozone, which makes it significantly less developed than its counterparts.
Tourism in Albania also did not get off to a good start in the early 2000s, following a deep economic recession in the late 90s and the legacy of the communist years, which had resulted in the country’s severe lack of significant infrastructure, or tourist, until recently.

TravelA group of divers have come across a rare fish that lives in the depths of the ocean. Called “oarfish” or as science knows Regalecidae, the chances of this fish encountering humans are very rare and mostly mentioned in sea monster stories.
The creature is about 2 meters tall and has a flat body, making it look like a giant knife. Recently released footage shows a group of divers swimming near the rare fish off the coast of Taiwan.
Usually this sea creature lives at a depth of 200 to 1000 meters and people have the opportunity to see them only when they are washed ashore dead. The longest fish of this type reaches up to 11 meters.
In Japanese mythology they are believed to be a sign of tsunamis and earthquakes.
As it has the colors of the habitat where it lives, the giant fish looks almost invisible.
Dive instructor Wang Cheng-Ru said this was the first time he had seen an oarfish, so he had to film it.

Culture Travel UncategorizedI have to confess, my mind immediately slips into vacation mode at the mere utterance of the word ‘Bali.’ While that oh-so-famous tripartite mantra of ‘eat, pray, love’ continues to inspire visits, there are so many more reasons to come to the island of the gods. Here are just a few reasons why Bali is our idea of heaven on earth; we have a feeling you won’t need too much convincing.
If the winter blues have your soul aching for a bit of sunshine, a trip to Bali will do the trick: with an average of 12 to 13 hours of sunshine a day, the prescription of sun, sea, and sand will set things right. From island-hopping by private speedboat to snorkelling in crystal-clear waters amongst turtles, coral reefs, and manta rays, to private beachside yoga lessons, a vacation in Bali could be the ultimate cure for what ails you.
Utterly Instagram-worthy, you’ll hardly believe your eyes when you experience the intensity of this island. With a profusion of colour, Bali is aglow with the reds, pinks and purples of spectacular sunrises; the intense blue of the sky and sea, the black of volcanic sand beaches and white fluffy clouds floating on the wind. I haven’t even mentioned the explosion of tropical green lushness everywhere: palms, fronds, vines, and among the most photographed sights of all, the beautiful rice terraces you will find on the island, tracing every curve of topography. It’s a photographer’s dream.
There’s something different in the air here in Bali. One of the furthest outposts of Hinduism, and the only island in the whole Indonesian archipelago that isn’t Muslim, the Balinese believe in the constantly opposing forces of good and evil. Here, the general flow of life necessitates daily worship and devotion.
Everywhere you go, you will see piles of canang sari, daily offerings to the gods, little baskets woven of palm or banana leaves, filled with rice, flower petals, and little trinkets within. These are offered as the day begins, and swept away by day’s end. Families (and even your hotel!) will have small shrines and many areas of worship for the gods. The Balinese also hold many festivals in their 210-day calendar; their festive New Year is actually held twice in a calendar year, with processions, feasts, and a day of silence the day after.
No two temples in Bali are alike; there are as many as 20,000 pura on the island, with nearly as many different functions. Whether you’re running the gauntlet of monkeys at the Ubud Monkey Forest temple, passing through the cave-mouth of a carved deity at Goa Gajah, or witnessing locals bathing in holy temple water at Pura Tirta Empul, witnessing these ancient rites and practices is truly something special to behold, and further underscores the pervasiveness of the spiritual in the everyday pursuits of the Balinese.
While I will leave the tasty nuances of Balinese food to others, it’s worth mentioning the incredible tropical fruits that you can find growing in abundance here. From the dragonfruit to the sweet lychee and longan to the scaly-prickly snake fruit, the notoriously ‘fragrant’ durian, jackfruit, rambutan, and the ‘queen of fruits,’ mangosteen, there are many new flavours to explore that you. Ask a guide or a local to show you some of their favourites.
We’ve mentioned many of the most renowned Balinese performing arts, including wayang shadow puppetry and the intricacies of Balinese dance, but have you listened to the fascinating sounds that accompany most of these performances? It’s the gamelan orchestra that is one of my favourite sounds of Indonesia: with polyrhythms and multiple instruments, it uses xylophone-like metallophones and hand drums to keep time. A sound (and rhythm) like no other, gamelan music may be an acquired taste, but it’s something that always brings me back to Bali whenever I hear it.
Body, mind, and soul, this island has a number of ways to steep yourself in wellness and healing, including Balinese massage, which uses Chinese and Indian pressure point techniques to soothe and release muscle tension. Another luxurious treatment is the Javanese lulur, a body treatment that uses yogurt and turmeric as a gentle moisturizer and skin exfoliant, or a deeply moisturizing ‘hair cream’ treatment which many Indonesians swear by for a full head of lustrous and healthy hair. Or, tap into the island’s network of long-revered healers and mystics to take part in age-old rituals and ceremonies that will transform you.

USAThe Pentagon may be forced to reveal everything it knows about UFOs in the next 300 days. This will happen as a bipartisan coalition of senators plans to force the declassification of the US government’s secret UFO files.
Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, in partnership with Republican senators Marco Rubio of Florida and Mike Rounds of South Dakota, are leading the effort to pass the bill in question.
If passed, then a nine-member review panel would be appointed to evaluate all classified government UFO records.
The news follows explosive and bizarre public testimony by now-retired senior intelligence official David Grusch, who claimed that the US military and defense contractor prevented the release of evidence of downed UFOs, ‘beings ‘ found and related deaths.
“You will now have a process through which we will declassify these materials,” said a spokeswoman for Senator Schumer.
Open debate on the proposed amendment will begin next week as the Senate considers the specifics of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the Intelligence Authorization Act (IAA) for fiscal year 2024.
Meanwhile, it is being clarified that Senator Schumer’s plan would direct President Biden to select the nine-person UFO dossier review panel, pending a Senate approval process.
Also, the Schumer amendment would give federal agencies just 300 days to organize and produce their internal, classified UAP records and provide them to the new review board.
Recall that in 2013, a classified information review board declassified and released 5 million documents related to UFOs.

EntertainmentJames Cameron is ready to direct a drama series about the tragedy of the submarine Titan in the Atlantic, where the five passengers lost their lives.
As The Sun reports, the director of Titanic is in talks to bring to the screen the tragic story of the submarine that sparked global interest a few weeks ago.
According to sources, a streaming platform approached the acclaimed director, who has explored the Titanic by submarine 30 times, to tell the story in his own unique way. The source said the submarine tragedy is being tackled for one of the world’s biggest streaming platforms and James is the first choice for the director’s position.
“He told the story of the Titanic with such compassion that it seems like a natural step for him to do so,” said the same source.
Among the names heard to be considered for the role of the protagonist are Hollywood star Matt Damon and comedian Kumail Nanjiani.

Business UncategorizedAnother day, another social media platform to post on.
The launch of Threads on 6 July marked the latest major short-form text platform available to social media users, following Twitter, Mastodon and Bluesky – plus a raft of other, smaller competitors.
Like many of us, big companies are struggling to keep up with the number of social media platforms vying for their time and attention. They’re faced with the important choice of which apps to choose, in a market where social media can be an important brand-building tool and enable them to target consumers where they are most active.
For the past decade, It’s been all but required for serious brands to maintain a social media presence, says Nathan Allebach, creative director at Allebach Communications, which has partnered with brands including Utz Snacks and Steak-umm to build out their social media presences.
Not only is it a major avenue to meet consumers, but social media is also a key contributor for brand discovery – which companies hope will translate into sales across generations of shoppers.
Yet instead of scrambling to claim digital real estate across all these newly emerging platforms, some companies are choosing to be more judicious about which platforms they choose to join. In some cases, they’re learning from brands who jumped the social media ship years ago.
Bullying and polarisation
One of the first large brands to make the move was Lush Cosmetics, which in November 2021 decided to stop posting on social media platforms controlled by Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
The beauty company initially dropped off the platforms in 2019, due to concerns about fighting with ever-changing social media algorithms as well as the company’s worry about the potentially negative impact of social media on young people.
“We are a social brand, and community has been key for us,” says Annabelle Baker, Lush’s global brand director. “When we joined social media, Facebook and those platforms were everything we were looking for initially: they were direct links to the communities.”
But Baker says they withdrew when social media changed to being inherently less social and user-centric, mediated instead by algorithms controlled by companies. Although Lush re-emerged on the platforms during Covid-19 in order to reach customers during lockdowns, the beauty brand has now gone dark again. They’ve been off social media for almost two years – and don’t have current plans to come back.
Time, say social media experts, is a driver pushing away brands: it can be a tall task to ask often junior employees to keep tabs on so many platforms. It’s a situation that has become more pressing with the new boom in Twitter alternatives, where a clear winner hasn’t yet emerged.
But some brands have also been feeling a distinct sense of unease about social media in general. First, like Lush, some companies are unhappy about the way the platforms operate and their management.
But perhaps more pressing is the risk of followers turning on brands amid the volatility and toxicity of some social media user bases. As social media has polarised society in unexpected ways, brands have found many users quick to criticise an account they believe has mis-stepped.
When luxury fashion brand Bottega Veneta left much of social media in 2021, its creative director Daniel Lee cited “a mood of playground bullying on social media”. He told The Guardian: “I don’t want to collude in an atmosphere that feels negative. ”
Some brands have also been feeling a distinct sense of unease about social media in general
“The main utility of an organic social media presence for most brands is activating the 1% of their super fans and haters. Ultimately, every team has to assess the risk-reward ratio of how much to invest … the investment isn’t worth it to every brand, especially with how many platforms there are to consider and how precarious they can be,” says Allebach.
To join or not to join?
The launch of Threads has brought the stay-or-go conversation back to the forefront.
Along with audiences already on other emerging platforms, Meta’s purported Twitter killer already has more than 100 million users, less than a week after it began – in other words, a growing group of potential customers for brands.
Yet deciding whether to embrace the new apps is tricky.
For one, brands are still struggling with the issues of reputation and user abuse. And some brands may also have concerns with Threads specifically, as Meta has prior precedent of launching apps designed to compete with and supplant existing incumbents (Instagram Reels, for instance, was designed to tackle TikTok), which don’t always succeed. Companies could end up devoting significant resources to building a presence on a platform that disappears in a few months’ time.
Brands will make their social media decisions individually – but Allebach says many still ultimately feel pressure to hang a shingle on these new platforms.
“At this point, it’s hard to imagine a future where brands start pulling out of social media platforms en masse,” he says. Yet he adds it’s possible we’ll see more brands pulling back, especially if “they can’t quantify the value or start believing the risks outweigh the rewards”.
Lush’s Baker says that her company isn’t eager to leap back into social media with Threads – even with the large audience. “It’ll be a test of time to see whether people stay there and actively use it,” she says. “But I’m not tempted to jump on Threads for the time being.”

Entertainment USAThe Los Angeles-based Screen Actors Guild has officially gone on strike, marking the beginning of the biggest shutdown Hollywood has seen in 40 years.
The union hopes to force the broadcasting giants to agree to demands on issues including fairer profit sharing and better working conditions. The strike means 160,000 performers will join their ranks, joining a separate writers’ strike.
The actors are demanding better pay and working conditions from streaming services, as well as a pledge that artificial intelligence and computer-generated faces and voices will not be used to replace actors. Stars Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt walked out of the Oppenheimer premiere when the strike began, according to director Christopher Nolan.
At a news conference Thursday in California, the union’s executive director and chief negotiator said the strike is the last tool they are using. “They have left us with no alternative,” he added.
On Wednesday, the union officially known as the Screen Actors Guild. The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, or SAG-AFTRA, was unable to reach an agreement with the major studios. The breakdown in talks led to the union’s bargaining committee voting unanimously to hold the strike.
