Uncategorized USAA dog has plunged the White House into trouble after the presidential couple’s dachshund turned out to be … stubborn, to the point that it needs retraining to learn to behave.
President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill moved into the White House with their two dogs, Chub and Major.
After Chub’s death, their hearts were stolen by the young and energetic “commander”.
A video was even published in which the American president played with the Major Commander or led him by holding him by a chain, inside the presidential residence, saying “Come on, buddy”.
But Biden’s “friend”…bites, reports the American press citing Secret Service documents.
According to them, the Major was involved in ten incidents and in one of them his victim had to go to the hospital.
In one case, Jill Biden “couldn’t get control” of the dog, which repeatedly barked at a Secret Service agent.
“It’s only a matter of time before he attacks or bites an agent or employee again,” a member of the Secret Service said in an email included in the documents.
The first lady’s communications director told CNN that the White House is a “unique place” that “often causes stress for pets.” For this reason, the Commander will have to be retrained, as was done with the other presidential dog, Major.
Major was adopted from a dog shelter and is the first rescued animal of a president. But the Bidens were forced to send him back to Delaware for intensive “good behavior” classes after he bit at least one White House staffer.

TechnologyChinese-owned video streaming app TikTok says it will offer text-only posts as competition between social media giants heats up.
The platform says the new feature gives users “another way to express themselves.”
Earlier this month, TikTok launched a new music streaming service to rival platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
And on Monday, Elon Musk’s Twitter ditched the famous blue bird logo and switched to a black and white X.
TikTok users will now be given three options in the app – whether to post photos, videos or text.
They will also be able to personalize posts by adding sound, location or Duets, which are video reactions to other TikTok users’ posts.
“These features make your text posts just as dynamic and interactive as any video or photo post,” TikTok said.
TikTok, which is owned by China’s ByteDance, recently launched a new music streaming service, TikTok Music, in Brazil and Indonesia.
Last week, the company also released a beta version of the service in Singapore, Mexico and Australia.
A spokesperson said it will allow users to “listen, share and download music they’ve discovered on TikTok, and share their favorite songs and artists with their TikTok community.”
The app is testing other features, including a new landscape mode with selected users around the world.
In 2021, TikTok became the most popular online destination in the world after having more visits than the American search engine giant Google.
That year, the app also said it had more than a billion active users worldwide.
Competition between rival social media firms – such as Instagram owner Meta and X, Mr Musk’s rebranded Twitter platform – has heated up in recent weeks.
This month, Meta’s new Threads platform launched in the Apple and Android app stores in 100 countries, including the UK.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg later said his company’s Threads platform had signed up more than 100 million users in less than five days.
Also this week, Twitter’s blue bird branding was replaced by a logo with a white X on a black background.
The term tweet will also be changed to “x’s”, according to Musk.

TechnologyHow do we experience the whole future amid grief and the loss of our dearest people?
An artificial intelligence (AI) company called “You, Only Virtual” is creating a chatbot modeled after our loved ones who are no longer alive, with its founder, Justin Harrison, telling “Good Morning America” that he hopes people don’t have to grieve at all.
“You, Only Virtual” scans text messages, emails and phone calls shared between an individual and the deceased to create a chatbot that composes original written or audio responses imitating the deceased person’s voice and modeling the relationship and rapport the two shared in real life.
The company, founded in 2020, hopes to offer a video-chat option later this year and eventually offer augmented reality that allows interaction with a three-dimensional projection.
Harrison, who used the technology to create “a virtual mother” after his mother’s death, dismissed potential privacy concerns raised by using personal conversations to build a chatbot without the consent of the deceased.
“You absolutely do not need the consent of someone who is dead,” he said. “My mom might have hated the idea, but this is what I wanted and I’m alive,” he emphasizes.

Politics UncategorizedRussia accused Ukraine of terrorism after two drone attacks damaged buildings in Moscow, including one near the Defense Ministry. There was no human cost in the incident, which comes a day after Kiev vowed to retaliate for the Odesa attacks. However, the targeting of a facility near the building where Moscow holds meetings for what it calls a special operation marks a symbolic strike, and suggests how deep Ukraine’s alleged drones can penetrate. According to the Ministry of Defense, the drones were intercepted and destroyed.
“We stopped an attempted terrorist attack by the Kiev regime, through the use of two drones against objects on the territory of Moscow”.
Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed that the drones had targeted non-residential buildings around 4 a.m. and that none of them had sustained major damage. But state news agencies reported that drone fragments were found just 2 kilometers from the Ministry building.
“They were asleep and I was woken up by an explosion. Everything started shaking. It looked like the building was going to collapse. I looked from the window of the building where I live, and it seemed strange to me that the damage was not so great, considering the explosion,” said a resident.
The Department of Transportation in Moscow announced in a telegram that traffic in the area was blocked, and movement was also stopped on Likhachev Boulevard where a multi-story building was damaged. Drone attacks were also reported in a district of Crimea, where residents were forced to evacuate. Ukraine rarely takes responsibility for such events. But in a statement, President Zelensky vowed to take revenge after the wave of attacks in Odesa, where at least one person was killed and extensive damage was caused, including to the Orthodox cathedral, a UNESCO heritage site.

SportsShocking images come from the WTA Budapest tennis tournament. The footage is going viral because it is about an extremely unsportsmanlike behavior of one of the tennis players and the public.
The event happened at the Kiara Toth-Shuai Zhang challenge where those present were protagonists and witnesses of a scandal that will be remembered for a long time. In the first set when the match was tied at 5-5, Zhang’s shot was ruled out even though it touched the line and the opponent went to the line, erasing the track of the ball, preventing the referee from checking it.
The gesture ignited the protest of the Chinese tennis player, but the point went to the rival. But it didn’t work here because the Asian girl burst into tears and withdrew due to the abnormal behavior of the public and her rival.
Toth celebrated after learning of the decision, raising her hands in front of the Chinese woman in tears. Embarrassing scenes that are going around the world.

Business SportsThe future of Kylian Mbappe always arouses the interest of some of the biggest clubs.
Recently, with the inclusion in the “game” of clubs from Saudi Arabia, this summer’s market has been the hottest ever.
Seeing the tense situation of the Frenchman at the Paris Saint-Germain club, Al-Hilal has jumped into the attack without wasting time. The Saudi club has made an official offer to PSG, while it is reported by the French media that the Parisian club has been offered 200 million euros for the purchase of the attacker’s card, while Mbappe himself has been offered a salary of 400 million euros per season, a figure that would make him the highest paid player ever in the history of football.
The summer market continues to be dominated by Saudi Arabia, whose clubs are persuading several big players to leave European football.
The first to start the series of transfers in Arabia was Cristiano Ronaldo, who may soon have a rival for the star role in the Saudi championship.
According to French media reports, Kylian Mbappe is increasingly away from the Paris Saint-Germain club.
Al-Hilal are targeting the French star and the Arab club are willing to cover him in gold to convince him to sign.
The Saudi club has already received a negative response from Lionel Messi, with the Argentine preferring Inter Miami over the Arab offer.
The goal this time is to close the market with this transfer, with the aim of making Mbappe the “alpha” player of the championship.

SportsThe friendly match Barcelona-Juventus was scheduled to take place at 4.30 am on Sunday, but it did not play due to a significant problem in the Catalan camp.
The news is made known by the Blaugrana club itself through a communique emphasizing that a virus has affected most of the team. It is about a gastroenteritis virus that has affected the digestive system of Barcelona players.
The first to give signs was the defender Joules Kounde, while Barcelona has also stopped the training sessions at the “Memorial Coliseum” in Los Angeles.
A few hours later, the club announced the cancellation of the next friendly, the one with Arsenal, while the El Clasico with Real Madrid, scheduled to be played on July 26 at the “SoFi Stadium”, is also at risk.

SportsLewis Hamilton takes pole position in the Hungarian GP! The seven-time world champion beats Max Verstappen by just three thousandths.
Second row all McLaren for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Third row, surprisingly for Guanyu Zhou (+0.362) ahead of Charles Leclerc. Alfa Romeo in a state of grace even with Valtteri Bottas, starting from the fourth row with Fernando Alonso. Rounding out the top ten were Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull and Nico Hulkenberg in the Ferrari-powered Haas.
Nothing to do instead for the other Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, who misses the passage to the final stage of qualifying by only two thousandths (his compatriot Alonso “burns” him in the extreme) and therefore will start from the sixth row together with another great exception: Esteban Ocon, winner of the daring Hungarian GP two years ago, his first and so far only victory in Formula 1. George Russell does worse, failing and preparing to start from the ninth and penultimate row with Yuki Tsunoda.

Technology USAAmazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft and other leading firms in the development of Artificial Intelligence technology have agreed to comply with a series of non-binding control measures proposed by the administration of President Joe Biden related to this technology.
The White House said on Friday that seven US companies have committed to having their artificial intelligence products verified as safe before making them public.
Part of this commitment is accepting third-party oversight of the operation of AI systems for widespread use, although no details have been provided on who will verify the technology or who will hold companies accountable.
A surge in investment in devices that work with Artificial Intelligence to produce text similar to what humans write themselves and produce new images has become an instant favorite with the public but has also fueled concern about their ability to deceive people and spread misinformation.
The four biggest tech companies, along with ChatGPT creator OpenAI and the firms Anthropic and Inflection, have committed to vetting “conducted in part by independent experts” to protect against key risks, including cybersecurity, the White House said in a statement.
This verification will also examine the potential for harm to society for example from prejudice and discrimination, and theoretical risks around advanced Artificial Intelligence systems that can take over control of physical systems.
They will also publicly report flaws and risks in their technology, including the effects it may have on inciting bias, the White House said.
The non-binding commitment by tech companies is meant to quickly react to AI risks before Congress passes laws to control them, although the passage of those laws is part of long-term plans.
Tech executives are expected to meet with President Biden at the White House on Friday.
Some critics who want artificial intelligence to be regulated by law said the Biden administration’s decision is a good start, but more needs to be done to hold companies and their products accountable.
Some experts and new competitors worry that the type of regulation being floated could be a boon to big, wealthier companies like OpenAI, Google and Microsoft as smaller firms are excluded due to the high cost of developing AI systems.
Several countries are considering ways to set AI rules, including European Union lawmakers who are negotiating comprehensive AI rules for the 27-nation bloc, something that could limit applications considered to have the highest risks.
The pledge is heavily focused on security risks, but does not address other concerns including the impact on jobs and market competition, the environmental resources needed to build AI models, and copyright concerns when it comes to writing, art, and other human-created works used to teach AI systems how to produce human-like content.
