LifeStyle USAThe story of the Cecil Hotel, now officially called the Stay on Main, is located on Main Street in Los Angeles, and has a very chilling story that has fueled the imagination of many for years.
Unlike other haunted hotels where ghosts are “seen” and where accidents may have occurred, Cecil has been the scene of several fatal accidents that can be characterized as mysterious.
The Cecil is a hotel built in 1924 and designed as an affordable place for business people and travelers to stay.
This 14-story building has 700 rooms and as of 2017, the building is under the protection of the city and has been declared a cultural asset of Los Angeles.
However, during its more than 90 years of existence, Hotel Cecil has gained a reputation as a place of horror, where unexplained and supernatural things happen.
Two serial killers, Richard Ramirez and Jack Unterweger, once stayed at the hotel. Ramirez, also known as the Night Stalker, killed up to 13 people in the 1980s before he was caught.
Unterweger is believed to have killed at least three prostitutes during his stay at the hotel. It is an urban myth that Elizabeth Short, whose 1947 murder was never solved, was seen drinking in the hotel bar just days before her death.
It is a crime that shocked all of America that year, as her body was cut in half and mutilated. Her killer was never found and today it is the oldest unsolved crime in the history of the “city of angels”.
Her case has been the subject of books, TV shows and Hollywood movies, including 1981’s True Story starring Robert De Niro and Robert Duvall.
The press of the time called her “The Black Dahlia” and in 2006 Brian de Palma made a film about her with that name. The story of student Eliza Lam is still the one that attracted the most attention as her death remains a mystery to this day.The body of Canadian student Eliza Lam was found in a water tank at the hotel in 2013, and how it got there was never explained.

Since the Israelis are in a state of war, after the massive attack that Hamas militants launched on October 7, UEFA has decided to postpone the meeting with the Swiss. As for the challenge abroad with Kosovo, a concrete decision is missing.
“UEFA will wait a few more days to assess whether the Kosovo – Israel match can take place on October 15 or should be postponed. “UEFA will continue to closely monitor the situation and stay in touch with all the teams involved before making a decision on the new dates.”

Technology UncategorizedMeta Platforms is aiming to introduce ad-free subscription services to Instagram and Facebook users in Europe. Several plans were discussed in terms of pricing, but the €10 per month plan is the most likely, one of the sources said, while another source said the feature would launch in the coming months.
The proposal is an attempt by Meta to comply with European Union regulations that restrain Meta from personalizing ads to users without their consent and harming its main source of revenue.
Offering a choice between a free but ad-supported plan and a free subscription may prompt users to choose the former, helping Meta comply with regulations without affecting its advertising business.

SportsLionel Messi has become a blessing for Inter Miami, but also for MLS itself, but the “flea” is not expected to stay long in the USA, not only because of his age.
Argentinian media reveal that the world champion has decided to retire from football with the team where it all started, Newell’s Old Boys.
Messi will leave the USA in 2025 to join his first team in his native country.
This is also seen as a move to be in better shape for the World Championship that will take place in 2026.
The same line is expected to be followed by his friend Neymar, who in 2025 has decided to return to Santos to end his football career.

Technology UncategorizedThe “X” platform, or the former “Twitter”, is the social network in which the most lies are spread in terms of the number of posts.
these are the conclusions reached in the research report carried out by the European Commission, conducted with respondents in several EU member countries.
Practically, as the British service BBC writes, research was conducted on 6,000 unique posts on social networks “Facebook”, “Instagram”, “Linkedin”, “TikTok”, “X” and “YouTube”, and the findings of the study show that social networks globally broadcast sensitive and insufficiently verified content, i.e. manipulative.
The study analyzed content in three countries considered particularly at risk of disinformation, Spain, Poland and Slovakia.
Meanwhile, the EU issued a warning to Elon Musk to comply with new Russian fake news and propaganda laws after it was found that platform X had more misinformation than other major social media platforms, the Guardian reported. “.
The report analyzed the scale of disinformation in a new report which revealed for the first time the scale of fake news on social media across the EU, with millions of fake accounts taken down from TikTok and LinkedIn. Interestingly, Facebook was named the second-worst offender when it comes to disinformation, according to the report, which also notes that if social networks do not comply with European data-sharing rules, Brussels could in the near future to declare them illegal under the Digital Services Act (DSA), which came into force in August.
Meanwhile, Facebook and other tech giants, including Google, TikTok and Microsoft, have signed up to a code of practice drawn up by the EU to ensure they can prepare in time to act under the new laws.
Twitter has abandoned the code of practice but is required under the new law to follow the rules or face an EU-wide ban.

SportsThe 2030 World Cup will be different from all previous ones. Taking advantage of the 100th anniversary of the tournament (which started in 1930, in Uruguay), the first three matches will be played in South America (Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay) and the rest will be split between the three countries that threw joint candidacy for the World Cup: Portugal, Spain and Morocco.
In a statement published on the FIFA website, president Gianni Infantino declared: “The first of these three matches will certainly be played in the stadium where it all began. In the legendary “Centenário” stadium, precisely to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup.”
The 2030 World Cup, like the 2026 World Cup, will be played with 48 teams and have 104 matches.
Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay are already guaranteed in the tournament.

Sports“Oh hell, we were wrong!”, these were the words of Darren England, the operator of the VAR system in the Tottenham-Liverpool match, who realized the mistake made late.
Although the video images showed that Luis Diaz was in a regular position, the referee’s offside decision stood and the match continued. A terrible mistake in the strongest championship in the world, which put the technology in the center of criticism.
In addition to the accusations, in England they have started to demand the removal of the technology, which was supposed to resolve all suspicious cases during the matches, but in fact it is recording gross errors, for episodes which can be understood by the naked eye.
The British Referees Committee published the conversation between the VAR system referees and the operators. There is a marked lack of communication and concentration.
When Tottenham’s 2-1 win was tied at goalless level, Liverpool scored but referee Simon Hooper awarded offside after the assistant signaled.
Darren England on VAR announced that the check was over, as it is after every goal, and play continued. However, the images were clear, Diaz’s goal was neat and this was easily seen by the use of 2-dimensional lines on the pitch.
Here the problem took on even greater proportions, because Dan Cook, the replay operator, informed England about the blunder. “Wait, there was an offside position on the field. Is it okay? We were wrong”, were his words.
As the game continued, the fact that the goal was legal was not communicated to either the referees or the fourth official.
VAR and the assistant tried to figure out if they could stop the match, to make up for the error, but England said: “There’s nothing more we can do.” A huge blunder, which put the Premier League in the spotlight around the world.

SportsUEFA now thinks about its Super League. The new format will be implemented from 2027 and foresees the “disappearance” of the current Champions. It is not about that project drawn up by the “rebels” Laporta, Perez and Agnelli, but about a competition sponsored by UEFA.
The sensational hypothesis was put forward today, in Spain, by “El Pais”, which writes that Ceferin is considering canceling the current format of the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League for a completely new organization.
Instead, a type of European championship with three divisions, with promotion and relegation, would be played. The name of the first division can be the much-discussed one: Superliga. But how would the UEFA Super League work? As mentioned, it would be a sort of 18-team championship with only two relegations each season.
The new format, which would replace the Champions League, would however only start in 2027.
The Europa League and Conference League would retain their current names, but would be transformed into two more groups of 18 teams each.
In this case, there would be four relegations and ascents to the second and third categories of the new European “championship”. While only two teams would climb from the Europa League to the Super League.
The eligibility criteria for the UEFA Super League and the other two divisions are not yet clear.
In this sense, the next meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee, scheduled for the end of October, could reveal new details.

The training got a little out of control,” he wrote in the photo. Zuckerberg said in an interview in August 2022 that he started practicing this martial art during the coronavirus pandemic, adding that the sport gave him a hostile energy.
