In weekend box office, “Blue Beetle” passes “Barbie” in worldwide cinemas
After 4 weeks at the top, “Barbie” is no longer the favorite movie. After securing $1.2 billion in box office worldwide, the new champion is now another superhero movie, Blue Beetle.
The comedy “Strays” is in fifth place, taking in $45 million in its opening weekend. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles dropped to fourth place with $8.4 million in box office sales. After a month in theaters, “OPPENHEIMER” moves to third place, with another 10 million dollars in its box office, for a total of 285 million in American theaters alone.
After 4 weekends at the top, Barbie falls to second place, securing another $21.5 million, for a total of $1.2 billion in 1 month.
“BLUE BEETLE” is the new champion. The superhero story premiered last weekend and took in $25.4 million in 2 days, eventually displacing Barbie from the top spot.
