Security experts have issued a warning to Android phone users, as a virus that steals banking data is circulating on the operating system.
According to the experts of “ThreatFabric”, it is about the virus called “Anatsa” that can infect Android mobile phones through applications from the Google Play Store.
This virus steals banking data that users may have on their mobile phones. The warning comes especially for the USA, England, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as this virus has recently been circulating in these countries.
Once the “Anatsa” virus infects the device, the hacker is able to steal credentials and access the user’s bank account.
“Anatsa” is not a new virus. It has been in circulation since 2020, but recently it has become massive because it infects phones through the Play Store platform.
It has been noticed that this virus has infected over 30 thousand devices.
The “Anatsa” virus is hidden in some recently released apps on the Play Store that pose as PDF readers.
Google has announced that currently all applications infected with this virus have been removed from the Play Store, but the risk exists for those users who have already downloaded these applications.
