The global disruption of Facebook and Instagram services has brought two humorous situations to the network.

Although the outage for WhatsApp and Threads was less than an hour, the system logged 200 incident reports on the Downdetector platform, which tracks outages by collecting status reports from several sources, including users.

Several of Meta’s own employees said on the anonymous messaging app Blind that they were unable to access their internal work systems, prompting them to question whether they had been fired, according to posts verified by Reuters.

The outage was among the main topics of discussion on X, formerly Twitter, with the platform’s owner, Elon Musk.

He hit Meta with a post that said, “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working.”

Meanwhile, X itself has faced some disruptions to its service following Musk’s $44 billion purchase of the social media platform.

In October 2022, the network suffered an outage, also in December causing problems for more than 77,000 users in countries from the US to France.

Problems faced by thousands of users around the world on Meta, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger platforms have started to be resolved. After an hour passed and social network users were unable to access their accounts, they slowly began to resolve these issues.

About 500,000 Facebook users had reported problems logging in or accessing the site as of mid-morning Eastern time on Tuesday, according to outage tracker Downdetector.About 50,000 reports of outages had been issued for Instagram and another 10,000 for Facebook Messenger, although the number of reports had started to drop within an hour of them starting.

Some users found that they had been logged out of their Facebook accounts. Others received notifications on Instagram that “something went wrong” and their posts or actions could not be loaded.

In advance, the possibility of a hacking attack is excluded.

Facebook and Messenger seem to be back to normal while Instagram still has issues with the homepage not refreshing properly to display content. Threads is also not fixed.

“We are aware that people have problems accessing our services. We’re working on it right now,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said earlier in a post on the X social network.

As the social networks of the company META had problems with access, the opponent of Mark Zuckerberg, the billionaire Elon Musk, has used this to make irony.

He has made a post on his “X” platform, as he ironically writes: “if you are reading this post, it is because our servers are working”.
