Samsung introduced a new product in the category of wearable devices.
Samsung’s Galaxy Ring will be a wearable device with features that will monitor the user’s health. These include heart rate and sleep problems, while the smart ring is expected to give users a readiness score for their day, a company executive told CNBC.
In short, Samsung’s new device basically offers some functions that already exist in smart watches, but in a more elegant form.
The head of Samsung’s digital health team, Hon Pak, talked about the company’s first foray into smart rings, as well as thoughts on a subscription to the ‘Samsung Health’ app and the vision for an AI-assisted ‘trainer’.
He said the ring is equipped with sensors that can provide the user with measurements of heart rate, breathing rate, how much they move during sleep and how long it takes a person to fall asleep after being in bed.
Sakaq added that the Galaxy Ring will give the user a “vitality score” which “collects data about physical and mental fitness to see how productive they can be”.
