Dating apps are giving special importance to the security of users by taking measures to make the interaction between users as transparent and convenient as possible.

Bumble will include an AI-powered option designed to identify fake profiles. Deception Detector aims to act on harmful content before users see it.

In testing, it turned out that the detector could automatically block 95% of accounts identified as fake. Within two months, Bumble noticed that user reports of these accounts were reduced by 45%.

The introduction of Deception Detector came about because an internal search of the platform showed that fake profiles and their dangers are the main concerns of users in online dating. The results showed that 46% of women expressed anxiety about the authenticity of people they know on these apps.

Meanwhile, another popular app, Tinder, is introducing warnings to users when the language they’re using is inappropriate and they need to improve. The update will be available globally in the coming weeks and the target age group is users aged 18-25.

The warnings fall into three categories: authenticity, respect, and inclusion. Tinder has stated that it aims to address behaviors such as impersonation or harassment. If a user violates the rules, Tinder sends them a message explaining the inappropriate behavior and gives them a chance to correct it. There is a possibility that the account will be deleted if the user violates the rule again.
