A court in Moscow has announced today that it has issued an arrest warrant in absentia for the representative of the Meta platform, Andy Stone. This decision was made for him because there were a number of charges related to terrorism, foreign media write.

Stone declined to comment on the warrant for his arrest by Russian justice. Russia escalated its war on Stone after Meta’s main platforms stopped in Russia shortly after the start of the war in Ukraine.

Russia’s Interior Ministry launched a criminal investigation into Stone late last year, but without revealing specific charges. The court announced that Stone was charged with promoting terrorist activities.

In March 2022, the Investigative Committee of Russia announced that it launched a criminal investigation into the illegal actions of Meta employees. According to the Committee, Stone had ignored a ban on calls for violence against the Russian military on Meta platforms.
