Gigi Hadid was reportedly arrested on charges of possession of cannabis after the drug was found in her suitcase while being searched by authorities at Owen Roberts International Airport last week. According to the media, Hadid, whose real name is Jelena Noura Hadid, was charged along with a girl identified as Leah Nicole McCarthy. The event happened on July 10, 2023, when a private plane arrived at the Owen Roberts International Airport General Aviation Terminal from the US. During the search of their luggage, cannabis and the tools used for its consumption were found. The quantities were relatively small and apparently for personal consumption.
Both girls were arrested, sent to the Prisoner Detention Center for processing and then released on bail pending a decision on the case by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, Hadid and McCarthy appeared in court and pleaded guilty, each being fined $1,000.
