Elon Musk has used his social platform to attack WhatsApp after news broke that the app owned by Mark Zuckerberg “listens” to its users.
Twitter’s CEO said the messaging app “can’t be trusted,” responding to a user’s post that WhatsApp accesses users’ microphones while they sleep.
This is the second time in a few weeks that the Tesla and Twitter billionaire has accused his rival Zuckerberg. Recently, he said that his rival is supporting the Democrats through campaign donations.
Musk’s latest statement came in response to a photo shared by Foad Dabiri, which showed how WhatsApp’s microphone was turned on nine times between 4:20 and 6:53 a.m. while he was asleep.
WhatsApp responded to the issue on its Twitter account, stating that the Dabir incident “is a bug on Android devices”.
But the problem has been going on for months. It turns out that the incident is not limited as many WhatsApp users have reported seeing the microphone activated in the background over the past month and even earlier.
