The European Commission (EC) has instructed its employees to remove the TikTok app from their private and corporate phones.
According to the news on the “Politico” website, the EC, which functions as the executive body of the European Union (EU), has banned the use of the social media application TikTok for its employees for security reasons.
In this context, all EC employees were instructed to remove the application from their personal or corporate devices with any work-related applications installed.
Other EU institutions, the Council of the EU and the European Parliament (EP), are expected to take similar steps in the near future.
TikTok, owned by the Chinese tech company, raises national security concerns in some countries.
In the US, the use of TikTok is prohibited on devices used for official service.
